The Doylestown Borough Zoning Hearing Board received 44 applications for the installation of Distributed Antenna System (DAS) "nodes" along roadways throughout the Borough. Crown Castle, LLC sought variances from specific sections of the Zoning Ordinance and also challenged the validity of the Borough's Wireless Communication Ordinance. Subsequent to the initial filing, applications for the seven proposed nodes along state-owned roads were withdrawn.
The Zoning Hearing Board held 11 hearings between June and October of 2017. They issued their decision on February 21, 2018. The decision upheld the validity of the Borough's ordinance, denied zoning relief for 24 applications, and granted relief for 13 applications.
