Ward 3 Lawrence M. Browne [email protected]
Larry Browne has been a resident of Doylestown Borough since 1999. One of the first actions upon moving was to join Doylestown Fire Company as a volunteer firefighter, where he is now a life member. In over 20 years in the Borough, he has been a volunteer for the CBFYMCA Adventure Guides program, First Friday Doylestown, Discover Doylestown and Central Bucks School District activities. He served on two Borough committees, the Environmental Advisory Committee in 2018 and as the Discover Doylestown representative to the Economic Advisory Committee in 2019. He was appointed to council in December of 2019 to fill the remainder of the late Sue Gordon’s term until December of 2021.
Before moving to the borough, he volunteered at the Philadelphia Fireman’s Hall Museum, Rockledge Fire Company, and a number of volunteer firefighting support organizations. While working as a photojournalist for the Northeast Times in Phila., he worked closely with the Philadelphia Fire Department on fire prevention activities and education and in 1994 was awarded the Civilian T. Seddon Duke award for those activities.
A long time photojournalist, his work has been published in many newspapers and magazines, both locally and nationally. He still is an active photographer, providing services for the fire company, Central Bucks Regional Police Department and Discover Doylestown. His work has been shown locally at the Pennsylvania Center for Photography and on the Doylestown Borough website.
He is the Senior Director of Customer Success for OnSIP, a hosted business phone system provider based in the Borough. He and his wife Karen have a daughter, Megan, an undergraduate at the University of Rochester.
