Borough Block Parties

Borough Block Parties

The Borough of Doylestown launched a pedestrian zone pilot program on June 26, 2022. The program's primary goal is to allow outdoor dining and shopping to have a larger footprint and a safer experience for all. We are pleased to announce that this program will continue through 2021. View the current schedule below.

What to expect
Locals and visitors can expect increased outdoor seating at restaurants, additional outdoor shopping, and the rare experience of walking down historic Doylestown streets, free of vehicles. Outdoor dining and shopping will continue in tandem throughout the town with the street closure pilot program. We encourage locals and visitors to explore the town as most of our local businesses have reopened and are taking tremendous care to provide a safe environment for you and your staff.

How it works
Throughout the program, designated areas will close to vehicular traffic, while sidewalks and parking lanes will be closed to pedestrians and reserved for neighboring businesses to expand dining and shopping options. The center of the street will be reserved for pedestrian traffic.

While many in the general public have been vocal about wanting street closures, it poses interesting challenges to businesses, particularly those dependent on curbside pickup and deliveries. The Borough is working hard to ensure reopening initiatives are as fair and safe as possible for all downtown businesses and residents. To that end, Pedestrian Areas are intentionally staggered and spread out to create opportunities without large-scale disruptions.

Safety & Guidelines
Social distancing remains critical in our efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. While visiting the Pedestrian Areas and exploring the town, please maintain a safe distance between one another. Masks are strongly encouraged when not seated. Alcohol sales must coincide with dining, and the Borough must approve any outdoor entertainment in advance. Businesses with questions or requests should contact John Davis.
